Advancing Enzyme Innovation from Lab to Industry
VIRIDA BioCat GmbH, founded in 2025 as a spin-off of Enzymaster Deutschland GmbH and Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, is an independent German company that unites academic excellence with industrial know-how. From our lab and pilot facilities in Jülich, we cover the entire chain from idea scouting and enzyme engineering to lab- and pilot-scale production.
Together with Enzymaster as our in-house partner, we enable industrial-scale manufacturing in ISO-9001 certified facilities. This collaboration ensures the supply of high-quality, performance-optimized enzymes and chemicals, produced efficiently and sustainably at kilogram-to-ton scale for diverse industrial applications.

news

In-silico enzyme identification
We provide advanced in-silico guided enzyme identification, including computational best-hit prediction and bottleneck analysis (activity, stability, IP).
You receive tailor-made solutions from our available enzyme kits, a
customized enzyme selection and/orengineered variants.

Wet-lab
feasibility study
We validate your concept in the lab through reaction and product analytics, enzyme screening, parameter optimization, and integrated downstream processing.
You receive enzyme or product samples, cost estimation, and a scale-up assessment toward commercialization.

Industrial scale production
We provide industrial scale biocatalytic production with our in-house partner Enzymaster. The ISO-9001 certified facilities handle fermentation up to 5,000 L and chemical manufacturing up to 5 m³.
You receive high-quality, performance-optimized enzymes and chemicals ready for kg-to-ton scale commercial supply.

from Idea to Industrial Scale Production

Idea check-up
(free of charge)
We assess your biocatalysis concept idea free of charge – from route scouting and in-silico feasibility studies to initial IP checks, identifying options, challenges and solutions early on.
You receive a clear feasibility statement and a success probability assessment.

In-silico enzyme engineering
We optimize your enzymes for your process needs. Using substrate/product docking, QM/MM analyses, and MD simulations, we overcome limitationsin activity, inhibition, and stability.
You receive optimized enzyme variants ready for your customized application.

pilot scale production
We scale up enzyme production (30–40 L cultivation) and optimize the process on pilot scale (up to 100 L), including integrated downstream processing and detailed cost analysis.
You receive pilot scale enzyme or product samples, an assessment for industrial scale production, and tech-transfer protocols.
